INDUSTRY NEWS: KOENIGSEGG UNVEILS 1700BHP FOUR-SEATER HYBRID

The Swedish hypercar producer has revealed its most practical model to date – the Gemera. Unlike anything else in the Koenigsegg line, it claims to comfortably seat four people with room leftover for luggage. While offering the practicality of four-seater comfort, it still promises the firm’s trademark blend of power, sophistication, and cool, as the hybrid four-seater sports two scissor-doors and the monolithic characteristic of Koenigsegg’s early designs.

In the works since 2003 and described as a ‘mega-GT’, the Gemera features a high-capacity powertrain which promises a sprint from 0-100km/h in just 1.9 seconds, a combined power output of 1,700 bhp, and 3,500 Nm of torque. Named the TFG – ‘Tiny Friendly Giant’, the engine is mated to a trio of high-output electric motors (two on the rear wheels, each producing 500 bhp and 1000 Nm; and one e-motor on the crankshaft, capable of an extra 400 bhp and 500 Nm to power the front wheels).

Using carbon fiber for the chassis, wheels, and body, the Gemera is also built to be eco-conscious. The 800V, 15 kWh battery pack provides 900 kW of discharge and up to 200kW of recharge. It can also travel up to 50 km in EV mode and up to an additional 950 km highway cruise speed in hybrid mode before having to fill-up – totalling a 1000 km range.

CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg has limited the production of the Gemera to 300.
