Genre defining. The personification of American muscle, and the creative combination of Ford’s commitment to rugged American automotive engineering, and Carroll Shelby’s iconoclastic aesthetic. Featuring a 355bhp V8 engine, tuned to top out at over 400bhp, the GT500 is as audibly wild as it is fast.
Shelby’s styling resulted in a slight re-contouring of the body, accentuating its muscularity to match the motor under the hood. Additionally, the grille was modified to fit a pair of high beam lights, the tail lights were replaced by rectangular units, and the air scoops were punched into the side covers.
Manufactured 25 January 1967, this car is a rare example, as one of 410 manufactured in this paint and trim combination (Moss Green with Black Decor), one of 527 manufactured in Moss Green paint, and one of only 2,058 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastbacks worldwide.
